1. The VBT Codex

Velocity determines the outcome. Use this chart to program your target speeds (m/s).

Training Goal Velocity Zone (m/s) Effect
Absolute Strength < 0.35 m/s Max force. Neuromuscular overload.
Accelerative Strength 0.45 – 0.75 m/s Hypertrophy (Muscle Growth).
Strength-Speed 0.75 – 1.0 m/s Dynamic effort. Power building.
Speed-Strength 1.0 – 1.3 m/s Explosiveness. Athletic transfer.
Starting Strength > 1.3 m/s Speed. Ballistics. Plyometrics.
